how to take the paint off your surfboard ?

i just got a new surfboard for my birthday and i want to personalise it and create my own design to put on my board. i know how to do coz it has a how to in ne of my surf mags but the only problem is it already has a design on it and in my surf mag it doens t tell you how to take it off so coud you tell me how to take of the 'paint' stuff off so ots just a clean white board =)

I know have a neat looking surfboard is important to teenage wahinis. But your board is most likely not painted, but tinted. The fiberglass coating carries a pigment in it that makes it kind of like paint. But, it is part of the board's "skin" and you can't take it off. In fact you can downright destroy that nice surfboard that someone was really super cool to give you. I have been surfing for 42 years, and nobody ever gave me a surfboard.

Take the time to learn a little bit about surfboards, and how they are made, and you'll understand. remember, it is how it rides that is really important, not how it looks (I have owned some UGLY sticks, that rode like a dream).

There are a couple of ways to add color and such, but I seriously doubt that you have the skills to try any of those things. If you just can't live with the way it looks, take it to a good local surf shop, and see if the folks there have any ideas, o=nce they see the board in person.
