Do you prefer latex or silicone caps? How do you make swim caps last?
Do you prefer latex or silicone caps? Why?
Also, how do you make them last a long time? I have a silicone cap for my swim team and I've had it for 3 years and I'm afraid it will rip. Our team recently got new caps this year and they are latex, but we still have the choice to wear our old silicone ones, and I want to make it last.
Silicon lasts 3 times longer and costs twice as much as latex. I know people who prefer one or the other. I use silicon because of the durability issue. Rinse your cap thoroughly after you swim and allow it to dry as much as possible. Keep it away from even moderate amounts of heat (like sunlight.) If you go for the silicon, make sure you buy a quality cap. I bought a cheap one from swimoutlet.com and it tore up the middle, but I've had a Speedo cap that's lasted for months (but it keeps slipping off my head after 400 yards.)
