My son was hit at school and has hand print on neck?
My 7 year old son is in second grade and a fellow classmate was pushing him out of line when they were lining up. My son pushed him back and the kid slap him in the back of the neck and left a hand print. The hand print was still there this morning. Although my son should have not pushed him (he can be aggressive if he needs to be) I think that it is out of line for my son to have a hand print on his neck almost 24 hours later. The school called the other childs parents and did an action plan with him. Do you think that is enough? Should I leave it alone?
Both of them are kids. You know that when your son loses his temper it sometimes goes farther than it should. The same is true of the other child, who no doubt had no idea that the slap would leave any more of a mark than did the push. And the school didn't ignore it or minimize the problem. They actually called the parents and developed an action plan with the other child. I would assume that the action plan would include an apology, but beyond that, what do you think they should do? I think it sounds like they were very responsible, compared to what I've heard of most schools doing. I understand that you are a mother and want to protect your child, but it sounds to me like it is time to step back.
